Band 5 Community Nurse – Child & Adolescent Mental Health

About the role

The NHS Highland Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is seeking a Band 5 Community Nurse to join its Intensive CAMHS (I‑CAMHS) team at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. You will provide intensive community‑based nursing care to young people and families requiring specialist T4 level mental health support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct, supportive contact with children, young people and families experiencing severe and complex mental health problems.
• Provide outreach and intensive care for service users who struggle to access the clinic or need inpatient admission.
• Implement agreed interventions in line with best practice, focusing on therapeutic relationship building.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to ensure comprehensive, patient‑centred care.
• Work flexibly, including occasional out‑of‑hours duties, to meet changing service needs.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS policies.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, motivated professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to adapt working hours as required.
• Valid driving licence (essential for community travel).

Required skills

• Clinical nursing competence in child and adolescent mental health.
• Knowledge of CAMHS/T4 level care pathways.
• Experience delivering community outreach and therapeutic interventions.
