Band 5 Staff Nurse – Child & Adolescent Mental Health

About the role

The Band 5 Staff Nurse will join Ancora House, an in‑patient child and adolescent mental health service providing 30 beds across two wards (Coral and Indigo). The role supports a general adolescent unit and also young people with eating disorders, working within a multidisciplinary team on a rotational shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to children and adolescents in a mental health setting.
• Administer medication, conduct patient assessments and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Work day, night and twilight shifts, ensuring continuity of care across the 24‑hour service.
• Collaborate with doctors, therapists and support staff to develop and implement care plans.
• Apply the NHS 6 C’s (Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage, Commitment) in everyday practice.

Required profile

• Qualified registered nurse (Band 5) with a commitment to child and adolescent mental health.
• Enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated to providing high‑quality care.
• Willingness to work a rotational shift schedule, including nights and evenings.
• Understanding of the 6 C’s framework and ability to apply it in practice.
