About the role

Join Barchester Healthcare as a Bank Chef and enjoy a flexible, part‑time schedule that balances work and life. You will work in a supportive environment, delivering hotel‑standard meals to residents while collaborating closely with the Head Chef.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavourful menus using fresh seasonal produce.
• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring high‑quality dishes are served.
• Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Work within budgetary constraints and complete regular audits.
• Control stock levels and manage inventory efficiently.
• Support and motivate the kitchen team to achieve excellence.

Required profile

• Personable, warm approach with genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent qualification.
• Experience leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
• Ability to create a welcoming environment.
• Good understanding of HACCP principles.
