Behaviour Mentor / 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Lewisham)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor / 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming three‑form entry primary school in Lewisham. The role provides one‑to‑one support for a Year 3 pupil who displays challenging behaviour, helping them engage positively throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent 1:1 support to the assigned pupil across all classroom activities.
• Identify behavioural triggers and implement positive strategies to help the child regulate emotions.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team to ensure a coordinated approach.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed to promote academic and social success.
• Participate in a trial week at the start of September to integrate with staff and the pupil.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Patience, resilience and the ability to build trusting relationships.
• Strong understanding of triggers, emotional regulation techniques and inclusive education practices.
• Commitment to working full‑time in an onsite school environment.
