Behaviour Mentor – SEMH Schools – North & East London

About the role

We are seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs across North and East London schools and alternative provision settings. The role involves one‑to‑one and small‑group work, helping young people manage emotions, build resilience and engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and restorative approaches.
• Support emotional regulation, resilience and classroom engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Assist pupils who have experienced trauma, exclusion or disrupted education.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, emotional or additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building abilities.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
