About the role
We are seeking compassionate Behaviour Mentors / Teaching Assistants to join specialist SEN and SEMH schools in Lewisham. You will work across primary and secondary phases, helping pupils with social, emotional and behavioural challenges engage positively with learning.
Key responsibilities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.
- Support pupils with SEN, SEMH needs, trauma histories and complex behaviours.
- Apply effective de‑escalation and behaviour‑management strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs and challenging behaviour (e.g., education, PRU, youth work, care).
- Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
- Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Resilience and consistency under pressure.
- Commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people.
