About the role

Our client, an established independent firm of accountants in Fareham, Hampshire, is looking for a diligent and detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to join their expanding team. The role involves handling bookkeeping, preparing accounts and maintaining accurate financial records for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

Assist members of the bookkeeping team with day‑to‑day tasks.
Manage and complete VAT returns for approximately 60 clients, including complex cases.
Provide training and support to clients on Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
Prepare VAT returns accurately and review the work of other staff members.
Carry out partial exemption calculations for VAT.
Make client payments as required.

Required profile

Minimum two years of UK bookkeeping practice.
Professional bookkeeping qualification such as AAT, or currently studying towards it.
Strong knowledge of accounting software, with Xero and IRIS experience considered an advantage.
