Branch Manager – Builders Merchants

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead a high‑performing builders merchants depot in Manchester. You will be responsible for both operational excellence and commercial growth within a busy, customer‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day branch operations, ensuring service standards and stock availability.
• Drive sales performance and achieve revenue targets.
• Manage the branch P&L, budgeting and cost control.
• Lead, develop and motivate a team of sales and operational staff.
• Implement strategic plans to grow market share and improve profitability.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Branch Manager or similar role within builders merchants, timber merchants or specialist building‑materials distributors.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of meeting sales and profit objectives.
• Natural leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Working knowledge of construction supplies and building‑materials markets.
• Accountability for stock, service levels and P&L.
• Strategic planning and management capability.
