Breakdown & Recovery Coordinator

About the role

Join Hough Green Garage’s 24‑hour Control Centre in Widnes as a Breakdown & Recovery Coordinator. You will be the central point for managing emergency roadside assistance, ensuring swift deployment of recovery teams and maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch recovery resources across all active jobs.
• Monitor job progress from call receipt to completion.
• Manage high‑volume inbound and outbound calls with emergency services, motoring organisations and the public.
• Balance driver workloads and map the nearest available resources.
• Liaise with administrative staff and field teams to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure GDPR‑compliant handling of personal data.
• Provide training and support to colleagues as required.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to stay calm and make decisive decisions under pressure.
• Excellent problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Proactive, flexible attitude with a focus on teamwork.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Willingness to undergo police vetting and maintain clearance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using dispatch and call‑handling systems.
• Knowledge of GDPR and data protection practices.
