Building Services Engineer – Mechanical Systems

About the role
The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of all mechanical building services and infrastructure across the venue, reporting to the M&E Team Leader. You will provide engineering expertise to ensure long‑term asset maintenance, system reliability and efficient day‑to‑day operation of the estate’s mechanical plant.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and complete reactive and planned preventative maintenance work orders using the CAFM system, ensuring timely completion and accurate records.
- Promote and uphold Health & Safety standards within the M&E team.
- Assist the M&E Team Leader with contractor management, including oversight of the catering equipment maintenance contract.
- Support onsite C.A.T scanning activities (training provided if required).
- Monitor, document and analyse building performance data via the BMS platform to ensure effective system operation.
- Carry out fault‑finding, maintenance and repair of AHUs and FCUs, including belt and filter replacement.
- Conduct routine mechanical alarm testing and maintain compliance logs.
- Support small‑scale plumbing and mechanical installation projects for race days and live events.
- Participate in the on‑call rota, providing out‑of‑hours support on a rotating basis.
Required profile
- Recognised formal mechanical or plumbing training (e.g., City & Guilds).
- Relevant qualifications and competencies in a mechanical discipline.
- Formal training in catering equipment maintenance and repairs (advantageous).
- Significant experience as a Building Services Engineer within a large organisation.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and COSHH requirements.
- Proven experience in fault‑finding techniques.
Required skills
- Use of CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management) systems.
- Operation and data analysis on BMS (Building Management System) platforms.
- Maintenance and repair of Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs).
- Mechanical alarm testing and certification.
- C.A.T (Computer Aided Thermography) scanning.
- Reading and interpreting MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings.
