Maintenance Operative

About the role

Lynwood Care Centre, a purpose-built nursing home offering 24-hour care and support for older adults, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to support its care home in Ascot. The role covers keeping the building, grounds and equipment safe and working properly.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the building, grounds and equipment, including decoration and repair, minor plumbing works and garden areas, to protect the safety of residents, staff and visitors.
• Carry out routine checks weekly, monthly and annually on systems in the home and make sure external checks such as LOLER testing are done within the agreed timeframe.
• Monitor and respond to fire alarm calls, boilers and lifts.
• Use resources efficiently in maintenance and repair, and control and order stock while checking deliveries.
• Conduct banking and purchase of small items for the home.
• Keep up-to-date with the home's policies and procedures, especially the Fire Policy, and take part in training and development.
• Help train new staff on the building layout and fire policies, and keep client and business information confidential.
• Stay aware of health and safety requirements and carry out any additional duties or training asked for.
