Building Surveyor – Social Housing (Chichester)

About the role

As a Building Surveyor for The Hyde Group you will manage damp and mould cases across Chichester and surrounding areas, ensuring homes are safe and fit for residents. You will work directly with customers, contractors and legal partners to deliver timely, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on damp and mould investigations, diagnose defects and agree scopes of works.
• Produce detailed technical reports, specifications, measurements and costings.
• Carry out property inspections and surveys to verify compliance and quality.
• Monitor and supervise contractors to ensure safe, on‑time delivery.
• Collaborate with residents, legal representatives, expert witnesses and internal teams to manage risk.
• Identify learning opportunities and service improvements to prevent repeat issues.

Required profile

• Experience in a surveying role within social housing.
• Strong knowledge of building defects, diagnosis and remedial solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging residents, contractors and legal stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence (essential for the mobile nature of the role).
