Business Assurance Auditor – Energy Distribution

About the role

As a Business Assurance Auditor within the Distribution Business Assurance Team, you will support the Business Assurance Manager in delivering the annual audit plan for SSE’s electricity distribution network. The role involves conducting end‑to‑end audits, analysing findings and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, scope and execute audits covering risk areas identified by senior leadership.
• Draft terms of reference, engage stakeholders and carry out fieldwork and testing.
• Analyse, grade and report audit findings, and own the action‑closure process.
• Develop audit test plans, conduct interviews and perform evidence‑based testing.
• Maintain audit records, support leadership reporting and collaborate with other assurance lines.
• Contribute to wider assurance initiatives such as compliance programmes and ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in auditing with practical application of audit techniques.
• Strong knowledge of UK legal and regulatory framework, statutory licence obligations and corporate governance.
• Understanding of risk management, internal controls and assurance models.
• Good working knowledge of electricity distribution network operations.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Full, current UK driving licence.
