Business Development Director – Sports Memorabilia

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Director to drive commercial growth for Europe’s leading sports memorabilia auction house. You will shape new revenue streams, forge strategic partnerships and build a scalable business development function around a strong brand.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute the commercial strategy across auction, partner, valuation and emerging categories.
• Identify, pitch and contract sports clubs, governing bodies, charities and brands to expand the partner auction network.
• Lead, coach and grow a small business development team as the function scales.
• Develop senior‑level relationships with stakeholders in sport, entertainment, investment and collector communities.
• Spot and develop new revenue opportunities such as corporate clients, institutional investors and brand licensing.
• Collaborate with marketing to enhance brand presence supporting commercial goals.
• Represent the business at industry events, trade fairs and sporting occasions.
• Report to the CEO/Founder with regular pipeline updates and forecasts.

Required profile

• Proven track record in senior commercial or business development roles within sport.
• Previous P&L ownership and responsibility.
• Experience building or managing a partner/affiliate network from scratch.
• People leadership experience – hiring, managing and developing commercial teams.
• Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable in a fast‑moving, founder‑led environment.
• Strong network within UK sport (highly desirable).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills at C‑suite and board level.
• Genuine passion for or knowledge of sport.
