Business Development Executive - 3 month contract

About the role

The Business Development Executive will generate new business and manage existing client accounts for Payroll Centre training products, memberships and the Act learning platform. This consultative sales role requires deep understanding of payroll compliance, team structures and training gaps to match solutions precisely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead generation and prospecting across SMEs, large enterprises and agencies.
• Conduct detailed payroll needs assessments and present compliant training solutions.
• Manage day‑to‑day client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and identifying upsell opportunities.
• Deliver tailored demos of the Act learning platform and payroll training products.
• Create quotes, meet monthly and quarterly sales targets, and maintain accurate CRM records.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, sales or account management, preferably in a remote or non‑face‑to‑face environment.
• Strong communication, negotiation and consultative selling abilities.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, able to handle multiple accounts.
• Customer‑centric mindset with a proactive approach to service.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using CRM systems and digital lead‑generation channels.
• Comfort with AI tools and technology‑enhanced workflows.
• Knowledge of payroll software and compliance frameworks such as RTI, HMRC and pension auto‑enrolment.
• Familiarity with IPASS or equivalent payroll qualifications.
