About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Developer to join the IT team of a leading law firm in Newcastle. You will play a pivotal part in evolving the firm’s technology landscape, ensuring that practice, case and document management systems support exceptional client service.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain legal case‑management workflows from requirements through to deployment.
  • Provide application support and troubleshoot issues across core business systems.
  • Build and maintain integrations between applications using RESTful APIs.
  • Create and optimise SQL databases, reports and dashboards.
  • Produce and update document templates and manage scheduled system maintenance and upgrades.
  • Document technical changes and support IT training for end‑users.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and contribute to wider IT projects.

Required profile

  • Minimum three years’ experience developing and supporting legal business systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with practice, case and document management platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset while being comfortable working independently.

  • Python (desirable)
