Buyer – Procurement for Civil Engineering Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Buyer to join VolkerStevin’s Procurement team in Farringdon. The role supports project delivery by managing the procurement of materials and subcontract packages across civil engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and issue subcontract and material enquiries for tender and project teams.
• Assist Senior Buyer/Procurement Manager with tender settlement, commercial proposals and discount negotiations.
• Liaise with site management to develop procurement strategies and agree programme dates.
• Maintain accurate document management and storage.
• Onboard new suppliers and conduct financial, health‑and‑safety and competency checks.
• Manage order number requests and ensure compliance with internal governance.
• Support supply‑chain performance reviews and questionnaire administration.

Profile

• Experience working within procurement or purchasing, preferably in construction or civil engineering.
• Ability to work closely with project and site teams.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
