Buyer – Procurement for Power Transmission & Distribution

About the role

Join the Power Transmission & Distribution team in Derby to manage end‑to‑end procurement for sub‑contracts, materials, plant and equipment supporting sub‑station projects. You will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating and awarding contracts while ensuring value for money and compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue RFIs and RFQs through the Jaggaer Bravo e‑tendering portal for a range of direct categories.
• Evaluate tender responses, conduct due‑diligence checks and compile award recommendations.
• Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing to meet project targets and achieve cost savings.
• Process requisition orders and raise purchase orders in line with company procedures.
• Monitor and improve specific supply chains, reporting performance and supporting continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain long‑term supplier relationships, managing supplier performance and market intelligence.
• Contribute to periodic management reports and support other contracts within the Business Unit as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or buying within the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Strong understanding of RFQ/RFI processes and tender evaluation.
• Ability to conduct commercial due‑diligence and negotiate contracts.
• Familiarity with supply‑chain performance monitoring and reporting.
• Willingness to work a hybrid schedule with at least three days on‑site in Derby.
