Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

As a Buyer at Ashtead Technology you will ensure that the right materials and services are delivered on time, at the right cost and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive procurement efficiency and add value across the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders, obtain quotations, evaluate supplier proposals and adhere to company procedures and authority limits.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, monitor performance and support cost‑saving initiatives.
• Expedite orders, resolve delivery issues and provide updates on lead times and material readiness.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, Operations and Finance to understand requirements, resolve invoice or delivery discrepancies and support project delivery.
• Maintain accurate procurement records in the ERP system, ensuring supplier documentation, traceability, quality and compliance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives such as supplier agreements, call‑off arrangements, process improvements and supply‑chain optimisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a purchasing or supply‑chain role, preferably in a project‑driven, technical environment.
• Experience working across multiple sites, functions or business units.
• Commercial awareness and proactive value delivery.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or working towards it (beneficial).
• Knowledge of mechanical or electrical components (beneficial).
• Strong communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high attention to detail.
