Cable Jointer – Electrical Network Maintenance

About the role

SSEN is seeking experienced Cable Jointers to join its Southern Electric Power Distribution team across multiple locations in the South of England. You will work on both high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) networks, delivering jointing, cabling and excavation tasks on planned and emergency assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cable jointing, splicing and excavation on HV & LV networks.
• Respond quickly to emergency outages and severe weather events.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure personal and team safety.
• Provide excellent customer service while representing SSE Power Distribution.
• Undertake out‑of‑hours standby duties and short‑notice work assignments.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a cable jointer on DNO networks.
• Hold a recognised DNO electrical qualification and cable jointing certification (LV, HV, 11kV or 33kV).
• Demonstrated ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Flexibility to perform standby duties and attend urgent work calls.
• Commitment to safety and strong communication skills.
