Category Buyer – High‑Volume Product Streams

About the role

Our client, an international manufacturing company, is seeking a driven Category Buyer to manage and develop high‑volume, fast‑moving product streams. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure product availability, support sales growth, and improve margins.

Key responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company processes.
• Resolve pricing, quantity, overdue PO, and quality issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
• Maintain up‑to‑date product, supplier, pricing, lead‑time, and documentation data in relevant systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Warehouse and Compliance to provide pricing, supply, and delivery information.
• Support the introduction of new products and ranges, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and quality standards.
• Develop and implement category strategies to deliver best value, balancing quality, service, and cost.
• Lead supplier agreement creation, drive procurement savings, cost avoidance, and revenue growth.
• Analyse spend and supplier performance, driving category development initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category buying or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical ability to assess spend data and supplier performance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across multiple departments.
• Ability to resolve issues proactively and work under pressure.
• Attention to detail and commitment to compliance with policies and quality standards.
