Chair of the Board – Non‑profit Housing & Care Organisation

About the role

The Board Chair will provide strategic direction and governance for Brunelcare, a respected charity delivering housing, care and support for older adults across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Somerset. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chair will work closely with the Executive Team to ensure the organisation’s mission and values are embedded in all decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Board in setting long‑term strategy and monitoring performance.
• Foster inclusive governance, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, partners and the wider community.
• Oversee risk management, financial stewardship and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Champion the customer voice, ensuring services remain person‑centred.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience, preferably within housing, social care, health, regulated services or charity governance.
• Proven track record of chairing Boards or complex committees.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Financial acumen and sound judgement.
