Chair of the Regulatory and Conduct Appointments Committee (RACAC)

About the role

The Regulatory and Conduct Appointments Committee (RACAC) Chair will lead a senior board responsible for appointing, developing and evaluating the chairs and members of ICAEW's regulatory and disciplinary committees. This three‑year, part‑time role reports to the ICAEW Regulation and Conduct Board and is pivotal in safeguarding public interest and professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the RACAC in selecting and overseeing chairs and members of ICAEW regulatory and disciplinary committees.
• Ensure governance, independence and accountability standards are upheld across appointments.
• Provide strategic guidance on talent management and organisational oversight within a regulated environment.
• Report regularly to the ICAEW Regulation and Conduct Board on committee performance and appointment outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant board‑level leadership experience with strong judgement and credibility.
• Expertise in governance, executive appointments, talent management or organisational oversight.
• Independent lay candidate – not a member of the accountancy or legal professions and free from compromising commercial ties.
• Experience within a regulated environment is advantageous.
