Chapel Service Assistant

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care, is looking for a friendly and supportive volunteer to help residents attend its on-site chapel services. Residents value this time for reflection, connection and peace, and the volunteer's presence helps them take part with dignity, safety and companionship.

Key responsibilities

• Gently support residents as they make their way to the chapel
• Escort residents back to their cottage after the service
• Offer a warm presence and friendly conversation
• Help residents find a seat and settle comfortably
• Assist staff so that everyone feels included and supported
• Be an extra pair of hands before, during and after the service

Required profile

• Warm, patient and enjoys spending time with older people
• Comfortable walking with residents or accompanying mobility aids
• Respects diverse faith backgrounds and personal beliefs
• Able to offer a calm, reassuring presence
• Enjoys helping others feel connected and valued
• Available Wednesdays 1pm to 3pm; must be 18 years or older
