Charge Nurse - Community Mental Health Team

About the role

NHS Lanarkshire is recruiting a Charge Nurse for its Community Mental Health Team. The post holder manages and delivers care to a defined caseload of clients or patients, applying the Nursing Process and case management to ensure high-quality care, working in partnership with other disciplines and agencies. The role also carries delegated responsibility for the appraisal, management and clinical supervision of registered nurses, junior practitioners and clinical support workers, under the team leader or senior charge nurse.

The working pattern is Monday to Friday with rostered weekend working.

Key responsibilities

• Apply values-based practice principles to decision making in care and treatment and in interactions with colleagues.
• Depute for the team leader or senior charge nurse and keep the service running effectively in their absence.
• Be fully compliant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and other relevant guidance.
• Assist the team leader or senior charge nurse in implementing and evidencing the Clinical Governance Framework and Staff Governance Framework.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
• Educated to degree level, or working towards it.
• Postgraduate expertise in the specialty area, showing the breadth of knowledge needed to lead safely and effectively.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards in the specialty.
• A full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required.
