Clinical Psychologist - Dental Hospital and General Medical Service

About the role

NHS Tayside's Clinical Health Psychology Service is recruiting a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to work across the General Medical Service, Dundee Dental Hospital and the Scottish Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service. The service provides specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions for adults with complex physical health difficulties, and works within multidisciplinary medical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Dundee Dental Hospital: work with a multidisciplinary dental team to improve access to care for people with significant psychological barriers, providing assessment and interventions for dental anxiety, phobia, trauma-related difficulties and other complex needs.
• Deliver training within the Dental Hospital, teach dental students in an honorary capacity with the University of Dundee, and contribute to care pathway development; opportunities for research are available.
• General Medical Service: provide assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with complex physical health difficulties, working with medical and allied health colleagues on integrated care planning.
• Scottish Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service: provide one session per week, supporting distress screening, intervention selection and quality of life.
• Support staff through training and consultation, and contribute to service development and evaluation.

Required profile

• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Drive, enthusiasm and flexibility.
• Part-time hours of 32.4 per week; the salary scale is pro rata for part-time hours, with possible full-time working in the future.
