Chief Finance Officer - South West

About the role

We are seeking a senior finance leader to deliver part‑time CFO services to ambitious private businesses in the South West region. You will work with owners of £2‑50 million companies, helping them navigate growth, acquisitions and strategic decisions. The role is self‑employed, offering autonomy while being supported by The CFO Centre’s national network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and advisory services to private businesses valued between £2 M and £50 M.
• Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow management to support growth and acquisition initiatives.
• Build and manage a personal portfolio of clients, delivering tailored CFO solutions on a part‑time basis.
• Collaborate with the Regional Director and a network of CFOs to share best practices and ensure high‑quality service delivery.
• Act as a trusted advisor, fostering long‑term relationships with CEOs, MDs and business owners.

Required profile

• Chartered accountant qualification from a recognised UK institute (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, etc.).
• Proven experience as a CFO or Finance Director in mid‑size companies, with strong commercial finance and business‑strategy expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to build lasting client relationships and work independently in a self‑employed model.
• Self‑motivated, energetic and able to thrive in a flexible, autonomous environment.
