Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO/COO)

About the role

This senior position sits at the heart of a London‑based family office, reporting directly to the two founders. The CFO/COO will combine financial stewardship with operational leadership, supporting the founders and their families across a wide range of activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor strategy, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts for the founders and related entities.
• Act as the primary liaison with banks, legal counsel, tax advisers, accountants and fund administrators.
• Oversee investment managers, conduct due‑diligence on new opportunities and coordinate structuring with legal and tax teams.
• Manage investment exits, asset disposals and the flow of incoming funds.
• Lead a team of 2‑3 accountants and tax specialists covering financial reporting, tax compliance, optimisation and treasury functions.
• Support the founders’ charitable trusts and ensure compliance across all entities.

Required profile

• Proven experience working within family offices, trusts or offshore structures.
• Familiarity with private‑equity fund structures (GP/LP, LLP) and corporate entities.
• Knowledge of UK, US, European and Australian accounting and tax frameworks.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong commercial mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and grow small finance teams.
• High level of confidentiality, integrity and emotional intelligence.

Required skills

• ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting credential.
• Experience with family‑office accounting, tax optimisation and treasury management.
• Understanding of private‑equity partnership structures and related tax considerations.
