Chief Research, Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Communications Officer

About the role

Women for Women International is seeking a visionary leader to shape its external voice, thought leadership, policy influence, and strategic communications. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Research, Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Communications Officer (CRAO) will ensure that programme evidence and the voices of women survivors of conflict drive global narratives and partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global communications, advocacy, and thought‑leadership agendas, translating evidence into compelling narratives for donors, partners, policymakers, media and allies.
• Collaborate with the Chief Programs and Partnerships Officer to align external positioning with programme reality and evidence.
• Work with the COO to manage communications, advocacy and external engagement within risk, compliance and safeguarding frameworks.
• Advance WfWI’s positioning on women’s rights, economic empowerment, conflict, protection and localisation in global forums.
• Build and manage high‑performing global teams across communications, advocacy, policy and strategic engagement.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in research, policy, advocacy and strategic communications within the international development or humanitarian sector.
• Proven ability to influence policy, engage donors and partners, and raise an organisation’s profile on global issues.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse, multi‑regional teams.
• Deep understanding of women’s rights, conflict‑affected contexts and evidence‑based advocacy.
