Children's Advanced Practitioner – Children in Care

About the role
Our client, Oldham Council, is seeking a full‑time Children’s Advanced Practitioner to join the Children in Care team. This is a temporary, five‑day‑a‑week position for an experienced, qualified Social Worker who can take on an advanced practitioner caseload while supporting the wider team.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain a small caseload of up to 15 children and young people in local authority care, reviewing progress and developing personalised care plans.
- Provide additional support to the Team Manager and Social Workers, including students and ASYE practitioners.
- Organise and facilitate group reflective supervision and learning circles for team members.
- Chair care‑planning meetings for children and young people not directly allocated to you.
- Offer one‑to‑one advice, guidance and task‑specific support as directed by the Team Manager.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker with proven experience in children in care.
- Ability to manage a caseload of up to 15 children/young people and meet statutory deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of care‑planning processes and safeguarding procedures.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
Required skills
