Children's Safeguarding Locum Lawyer

About the role

CRA Consulting is partnering with a local authority in Warrington to recruit an experienced Children’s Safeguarding Locum Lawyer. This ongoing assignment offers the chance to provide specialist legal advice and advocacy within a supportive Safeguarding Team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist legal advice on children’s safeguarding and childcare matters.
• Represent the authority in Family Court and relevant tribunals.
• Prepare cases in line with the Public Law Outline (PLO), including statements, care plans, bundles and skeleton arguments.
• Participate in advocates' meetings, strategy sessions and multi‑agency discussions.
• Collaborate closely with Counsel, Children’s Guardians and external partner agencies.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive.
• Strong experience in Children’s Social Care or Childcare Law.
• Proven track record handling care proceedings and public law matters.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
