Civils & Buildings Craftsperson

About the role

The Civils & Buildings Craftsperson will support the maintenance and compliance of civil and building assets across SSE Transmission’s network in Scotland. Working primarily on transmission sites, you will carry out routine repairs, defect rectifications and project‑related works while ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day civil and building maintenance tasks and defect repairs.
• Undertake designated project repairs and support larger project teams.
• Oversee compliance work performed by others to meet statutory obligations.
• Report operational defects promptly and communicate clearly with team members.
• Conduct risk assessments, environmental and safety inspections on transmission sites.
• Work outdoors in varied weather and be flexible to occasional out‑of‑hours requirements.

Required profile

• Multi‑skilled craftsperson background with experience in industrial settings.
• Minimum qualification of CSC or an equivalent accreditation.
• Strong team player with effective communication across all business levels.
• Computer literate with experience using maintenance scheduling and reporting software.
• Highly flexible attitude and willingness to work collaboratively.
