Civils Site Manager – Water Utilities

About the role

The Civils Site Manager will lead civil projects across S&B Utilities' water network infrastructure, ensuring safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery at multiple sites throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors and workers to achieve efficient project execution.
• Provide technical guidance on civil engineering tasks and conduct inspections, quality checks and corrective actions.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Prepare pre‑start documentation including RAMS, contracts and programme set‑up.
• Coordinate plant and resource requirements with the Project Manager.
• Oversee daily site operations, toolbox talks, safety briefings and statutory inspections (LOLER, PUWER, excavation, etc.).
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to flag early warnings and keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civils site management within the water and utilities sector.
• Relevant certifications such as CSCS Managers Card (Level 6+), SMSTS, CPCS Lift Supervision and Signalling, EUSR Blue Card and a full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015, especially the Principal Contractor responsibilities.
• Health & safety qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH) – obtained or in progress.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts and Bill of Quantities.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office packages.
• Ability to interpret and apply CDM 2015 regulations.
• Understanding of safety standards such as LOLER and PUWER.
