Civil/Structural Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

The Civil/Structural team in Defence Infrastructure solves complex structural engineering problems for the nuclear defence industry, covering dynamic loads from seismic, blast and impact hazards. The role sits within a central systems engineering team and offers mentorship and career development. It is a hybrid position, with main offices in Glasgow, Reading, Bristol and Warrington, and occasional site visits that are expensed.

Key responsibilities

• Inter-disciplinary project planning, delivery and financial performance
• Ensure technical quality and excellence of project deliverables
• Provide technical guidance and support, and develop junior engineers and technicians
• Build good working relationships with clients and other company departments
• Adhere to and contribute to business and quality management systems
• Maintain operational and design safety and promote a strong safety culture

Required profile

• Good all-round technical design expertise using British and international standards and/or Eurocodes
• Proven ability to manage projects, including quality, budget, programme and resources
• Good understanding of structural theory and proven problem-solving ability
• Proven experience preparing bids and proposals and working with clients
• Accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar
• Able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance; UK nationals are required, and dual nationals may face trade control restrictions
