Claims Handler – Liability Claims Specialist

About the role

This position offers an experienced Claims professional the chance to join a market‑leading insurance firm in Colchester. You will manage a diverse portfolio of liability claims, working closely with solicitors and clients to achieve fair settlements while developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of professional indemnity, employment liability and public liability claims.
• Investigate claim details, review policy documents and assess liability against terms.
• Conduct thorough investigations, liaise with claimants, witnesses and legal representatives.
• Identify potential fraud or suspicious activity and report findings.
• Negotiate settlements and fee agreements with claimants’ representatives.
• Provide regular status updates to policyholders and internal partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling liability insurance claims.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented with capacity to process a high volume of claims accurately.
