Claims Team Leader – Marine Cargo & Property

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Claims Team Leader to head a small, high‑performing team of three. The role covers a broad portfolio of Property, Business Interruption, Marine Cargo, All Risks, Engineering and Casualty claims across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the claims team to deliver efficient, high‑quality front‑line service.
• Oversee claims handling, cost control and recovery processes, meeting agreed targets.
• Review and approve payments and settlements within delegated authority.
• Provide technical guidance on complex, high‑value claims.
• Manage relationships with outsourced service providers.
• Produce regular management information reports for senior leadership.
• Analyse claims data to identify trends and support decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and internal governance requirements.
• Collaborate with brokers, adjusters, co‑insurers and internal stakeholders.
• Drive improvements in claims systems and processes.
• Set objectives, monitor KPIs and coach team members.
• Develop and deliver training and mentoring programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of claims experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to manage and develop a claims team.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to handle multiple priorities.
• Deep expertise in cargo and property & casualty claims.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
