Class 1 HGV Driver – Full‑Time

About the role

Join Brakes as a Class 1 HGV driver based in Portbury, delivering fresh and frozen food to a wide range of customers across the UK. You will work a 45‑hour week on a 5‑over‑7 shift pattern, with start times varying between 1 pm and 11 pm, and benefit from shift differentials after 6 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and safety checks.
• Load, secure, and transport food products to designated distribution centres and customer sites.
• Follow planned routes, adhere to delivery schedules, and comply with road‑traffic regulations.
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and electronic records.
• Report any incidents, delays, or vehicle issues to the operations team promptly.

Required profile

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) licence with a CPC card.
• Experience driving HGVs on long‑haul or distribution routes.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
