Class 1 Night Driver – Artic (Night Shift)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Class 1 Night Driver to operate our Artic waste‑collection vehicles on the night shift (6 pm‑6 am) across the South East. You will be responsible for safe, on‑time collection and delivery of waste, representing Countrystyle Recycling to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Complete daily vehicle checks and fill out the Vehicle Defect sheet at the start and end of each shift.
• Verify that all CCTV cameras are functional and, where fitted, that inward‑facing cameras face the driver.
• Report any defects, including tyre issues, to the Fleet Office.
• Carry out all allocated collections, deliveries and operational tasks within the working day.
• Complete paperwork accurately and submit it promptly.
• Maintain regular communication with the Fleet Office and report any incidents immediately.
• Provide a polite and professional customer service at all times.
• Refuel the vehicle on return to the yard or on the journey back to the depot.
• Present the tachograph card for weekly downloading.
• Attend end‑of‑day de‑briefings with the Fleet Office.
• Secure all loads to prevent waste or debris from falling on public highways.
• Keep the vehicle and any trailer clean, serviceable and safe.
• Load and unload adhering to Safe Working Procedures and Risk Assessments.
• Work from other group depots and operate other vehicles when required.
• Wear the Countrystyle Recycling uniform and appropriate PPE at all times.
• Grease the fifth‑wheel plate regularly (Artics only).
• Report all accidents and incidents immediately to the Fleet Office or Compliance Team.

Required profile

• Valid Class 1 driving licence.
• Ability to work night shifts (6 pm‑6 am) and perform independent duties.
• Willingness to follow health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Good communication skills for reporting to the Fleet Office.
• Commitment to maintaining vehicle cleanliness and safety standards.
