Client Accountant – Service Charge Specialist

About the role

The client is a well‑established property management business seeking a Client Accountant to join its finance team at the Borehamwood head office. This hands‑on position focuses on service charge accounting, delivering accurate monthly reports and supporting operational teams and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare service charge accounts to a high standard and meet agreed deadlines.
• Review financial transactions, resolve balance‑sheet anomalies and manage accruals, pre‑payments and reconciliations.
• Produce monthly income statements, energy reconciliations, cash‑flow information and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and Section 20b processes, ensuring correct handling of client money.
• Liaise with property managers, customers, auditors and internal stakeholders to gather information and finalise accounts.
• Oversee direct reports, providing guidance and oversight across the team.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in property management, residential management, real estate or service charge accounting.
• Strong understanding of accruals‑based accounting and monthly reporting.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused with excellent attention to detail.
• Studying towards ACCA, CIMA or another accounting qualification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Experience with MRI Qube (preferred).
