Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology – Specialist Children’s Services

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology to join its Specialist Children’s Services. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions for children, young people and families facing mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct evidence‑based psychological assessments and deliver therapeutic interventions for mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
• Manage a specialist caseload, providing formulation‑led individual and group sessions under clinical supervision.
• Use a range of psychological measures, observations and evidence‑based approaches for comprehensive assessments.
• Collaborate with families, schools, GPs, CAMHS colleagues and partner agencies to support positive outcomes.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on treatment effectiveness while maintaining accurate clinical records.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and research activities.
• Provide psycho‑education, consultation and training to colleagues, carers and other professionals as required.

Required profile

• Honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR).
• Postgraduate MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children.
• Eligibility to work under appropriate clinical supervision within the NHS.
