Clinical Fellow – General Ophthalmology, Urgent Care & Cataract

About the role

We are seeking a Clinical Fellow to join Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London, working across general ophthalmology, urgent eye care and cataract services. The fellowship offers a varied timetable of outpatient clinics and surgical sessions within a world‑renowned teaching hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis and management for in‑patients and out‑patients across a broad range of eye conditions.
• Handle urgent eye presentations at any time during the week.
• Participate in surgical lists, including cataract procedures.
• Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to informal and formal teaching sessions.
• Gain exposure to subspecialties such as oculoplastics, cornea, neuro‑ophthalmology, medical retina, uveitis and paediatrics.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with experience as a clinical fellow in ophthalmology.
• Motivation to expand clinical and surgical skills in a high‑volume eye centre.
• Ability to work independently and manage emergency eye conditions.

Required skills

• General ophthalmic clinical assessment.
• Cataract surgery and peri‑operative care.
• Management of urgent and emergency eye conditions.
• Knowledge of subspecialty areas: oculoplastics, cornea, neuro‑ophthalmology, medical retina, uveitis, paediatrics.
