Clinical Nurse Specialist – Community Alcohol & Drug Service

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will join the Community Alcohol and Drug Service at Falkirk Community Hospital, providing expert nursing care to individuals with substance use challenges. This Band 6 position focuses on delivering evidence‑based interventions and supporting the recovery journey of patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise, leadership and supervision to nursing staff delivering specialist substance‑use interventions.
• Implement the recovery model of care for patients with alcohol and drug related issues.
• Deliver formal, structured supervision to ensure patients progress along the recovery pathway.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to promote an integrated model of care.
• Travel throughout the service area to support community‑based delivery of care.

Required profile

• First‑level Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) qualification at degree level.
• Post‑qualification training in a relevant speciality (e.g., substance use).
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience of effective team working.
• Willingness and ability to travel across the service area.
• Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
