Clinical Research Training Fellow (PhD) x 3 (Fixed Term)
University of Cambridge
Job description
About the role
The University of Cambridge, through the CRUK Cambridge Centre, is inviting applications for three Clinical Research Training Fellowships leading to a PhD. The fellowships are open to medically qualified individuals undertaking specialist training in any clinical discipline who wish to obtain a PhD with a view to an academic career in cancer research. Fellowships for 2027 are held in member research groups of the CRUK Cambridge Centre, and applicants choose their first and second choice projects.
Funding covers a full-time, 3-year PhD, including a clinical salary, generous consumables and University Composition Fees at the Home rate. The award depends on obtaining an offer of admission as a PhD student at the University of Cambridge. Fellows are expected to start on 1 October 2027, and the funds are available for 3 years.
Required profile
- Medical qualification and eligibility to practice clinically within the UK are essential.
- Applicants must be undertaking specialist training in a clinical discipline.
- Overseas applicants may apply and are usually eligible for the reduced staff University Composition Fee; if not eligible, they may need to self-fund the fee difference of about £27,600 per year for 3 years.
What we offer
- A clinical salary of £41,226 - £77,348.
- Generous consumables and University Composition Fees at the Home rate.
- Opportunity to visit the relevant department(s) or institute(s) during interviews.
Applications are made online through the University's recruitment system, quoting reference RD51283, with a CV and statement of interest naming first and second choice projects and confirming eligibility. The closing date is 19 November 2026; short-listed candidates are interviewed by a panel of Principal Investigators around 4 January 2027.
