Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service at Kirkintilloch Health and Social Care Centre. You will deliver specialist CBT assessment and treatment to adults with substance misuse and co‑existing mental health difficulties, working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct specialist CBT assessments and interventions for adults with substance misuse and mental health co‑morbidities.
• Manage a complex clinical caseload, tailoring evidence‑based treatment to individual needs.
• Perform specialist risk assessments and develop clinical formulations to guide treatment planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Provide consultation, advice and guidance to healthcare professionals on CBT approaches.
• Deliver clinical supervision, teaching and training to colleagues and other professional groups.
• Contribute to service development, clinical audit, evaluation and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from a BABCP‑accredited programme.
• Significant experience delivering CBT within the NHS mental health setting.
• Proven ability to assess and treat a broad range of mental health presentations.
• Strong skills in CBT assessment, formulation, intervention and clinical risk management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
