Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service

About the role

Join the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service within East Dunbartonshire HSCP as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. You will provide specialist CBT assessment and treatment to adults facing substance misuse alongside mental health challenges, working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist CBT assessments and interventions for adults with substance misuse and co‑existing mental health difficulties.
• Manage a complex clinical caseload, tailoring evidence‑based treatment to individual needs.
• Conduct specialist risk assessments and develop clinical formulations to guide treatment planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Provide consultation, advice and guidance to healthcare professionals on CBT approaches.
• Deliver clinical supervision, teaching and training to colleagues and other professional groups.
• Contribute to service development, clinical audit, evaluation and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from a BABCP‑accredited programme.
• Significant experience delivering CBT within the NHS mental health setting.
• Proven ability to assess and treat a broad range of mental health presentations.
• Strong skills in CBT assessment, formulation, intervention and clinical risk management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
