Commercial Lawyer Consultant (Self‑Employed)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join Richard Nelson LLP as a self‑employed consultant. The role offers full autonomy to build and manage your own client portfolio while benefiting from the firm’s national infrastructure and support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a commercial law practice, handling disputes, contracts and regulatory matters for business clients.
• Manage your own caseload from initial client contact through to resolution, ensuring high‑quality service.
• Generate revenue by billing at least £100,000 per annum and meeting the firm’s fee‑split targets.
• Collaborate with the firm’s compliance, administration and accounts teams to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Participate in regular in‑house training and contribute to the development of legal precedents.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with several years post‑qualification experience in commercial law.
• Proven ability to attract and retain a substantial client base, with a minimum billing record of £100k annually.
• Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to work independently.
• Commitment to the firm’s values of integrity, expertise and client‑focused service.
