Commercial Legal Counsel (3-7 PQE)

About the role

Checkout.com, a payments technology company with its headquarters in London, is looking for a proactive Commercial Lawyer (3-7 PQE) to own the commercial contract pipeline at the London HQ. The role covers drafting, negotiating and closing commercial agreements, from strategic partner deals to core customer agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customised customer contracts, strategic partnerships and supplier contracts.
• Resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters that arise during negotiations.
• Produce and/or maintain standard agreements such as NDAs, supplier and customer agreements.
• Advise on special projects, including new product developments, considering their legal and regulatory impact.
• Advise on commercial legal issues and risks, and conduct research on multijurisdictional legal issues.
• Support the company's strategic projects and initiatives with proactive, results-oriented advice.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or lawyer (3-7 PQE) with strong post-qualification experience, in-house or private practice.
• Previous FinTech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or banking experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience in a start-up or other fast-paced environment is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working internationally and on cross-border matters.
