Commercial Manager

About the role

Network Rail is seeking a commercially driven professional to ensure the financial and contractual success of major railway projects. You will provide expert oversight of project costs, commercial performance and deliver robust forecasting, reporting and analysis to support confident decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Identify risks and opportunities early, challenge assumptions and shape commercially sound outcomes.
• Manage contractor relationships, including contract valuations, payments, negotiations, change control and final account settlements.
• Ensure compliance with governance, contractual obligations and best practice.
• Provide proactive commercial advice and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented professional with strong commercial acumen.
• Experience working closely with project and programme teams.
• Ability to identify and mitigate commercial risks while spotting opportunities.
• Proven track record of managing contractor relationships and contract administration.
• Commitment to delivering value and strengthening commercial discipline.
