Commercial Manager – Quantity Surveyor (London & Home Counties)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager (Quantity Surveyor) to join our private‑sector business unit and support major construction projects across London and the Home Counties. You will drive procurement, contract administration and commercial risk management throughout the pre‑construction phase.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all commercial activities for a project or a complex section of a large project.
• Procure large packages in line with the approved strategy, ensuring best‑value orders and proper contracting.
• Liaise with the client team and maintain supply‑chain relationships to coordinate procurement.
• Implement and monitor commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls.
• Prepare accurate commercial reports, interim payments, change accounts, cash‑flow forecasts and final accounts.
• Deliver projects safely, on time, efficiently and sustainably while meeting client expectations.

Required profile

• Valid CSCS card for the role.
• Professional construction qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Desirable: Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and MRICS chartership.
• Strong knowledge of construction law, regulations, commercial and financial procedures.
• Experience in value engineering, bond and warranty management, and cash‑flow optimisation.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
• Use of cost‑management software.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and design information.
• Valuation techniques and measurement of interim applications.
• Tendering and preparing subcontract documentation for medium‑to‑high value packages.
