Commercial Officer – Defence Security Services

About the role

The Security Services Group (SSG) is seeking a Commercial Officer to support the MOD’s technical authority for electronic and physical security. You will work within a specialist team delivering procurement, contract management and supply‑chain expertise for high‑value defence projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial expertise across the full procurement lifecycle, from pre‑sourcing analysis to contract award and management.
• Conduct market analysis, develop strategy and contract management plans, and negotiate terms within delegated authority.
• Lead or support the collection and analysis of supplier data for strategic and critical suppliers, informing deep‑dive reviews, road‑maps and supplier strategies.
• Manage portfolios of requirements and contracts, ensuring alignment with SSG’s delivery objectives and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with operational delivery teams to facilitate smooth hand‑over from contract award to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
